Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a 2023 American science fiction action film based on Hasbro 's Transformers toy line, and primarily influenced by its Beast Wars sub-franchise.

Serving as a sequel to Bumblebee and a prequel to the Transformers movies, Rise of the Beasts is inspired by the fan-favorite Beast Wars storyline It is set in 1994 Brooklyn, and sees an archeologist and an ex-military electronics expert teaming up to help Optimus Prime and the Autobots in a battle to protect Earth from Unicron’s impending invasion.

Set in 1994, the film takes place in Brooklyn, New York, with travel to Peru. Rise of the Beasts will introduce three new robot tribes — Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons — to the existing battle on earth between the Autobots and Decepticons. The Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons are robots that turn into robotic animals.

Rise of the Beasts will introduce Transformers: Beast Wars lore into the live-action films for the first time--meaning there will be robots that transform into animals instead of vehicles.

This summer, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives with a globe-trotting adventure inspired by the Beast Wars storyline, which focuses on the mighty Maximals, the evil Terrorcons, and the ferocious Predacons. The new movie is loosely based on the Beast Wars: Transformers computer-generated T.V. series that ran from 1996 to 1999.
